Dress Hangers
The Materials
The Process
1. Since I bought finished wood hangers, I sanded off the top layer so the paint would take. It took less than 5 minutes per hanger and I only used one sheet of medium grain (100) 3M sandpaper. (You can tell the layer is off if you see the scratches and it's not as shiny.)
2. I painted each hanger, most colors needed two coats but acrylic dries fast
3. I added the glitter letters to the hangers and painted over the entire hanger with the clear top coat
4. I added a few rhinestones and a ribbon bow to the hangers (I tied the ribbon first and then used a piece of thin silver wiring to tie it around the top of the hanger)
5. I painted the nameplates in their corresponding colors: two coats on each
6. I painted the fronts with glitter paint and then the sealer once the glitter dried
7. I used the same silver scrapbooking stickers and rhinestones to spell out the girls' names and decorate, respectively.
8. I wrote the date of the wedding on the back with silver Sharpie
9. My dad drilled two small holes in each plaque
10. I strung the ribbon through the two holes and tied them in knots in the back
